Meerlust
Rubicon is the bottle. The vineyard is at Faure, on the way in from Cape Town, not in Stellenbosch town.
Cabernet
A short history
Henning Huising was granted the farm in 1693 and named it Meerlust, pleasure of the sea, for the breeze off False Bay. The Myburgh family bought it in 1756 and still hold it. The werf was declared a national monument in 1987.
The first wine under the Meerlust label was 1975. Rubicon, the Cabernet blend, was released from the 1980 vintage. The farm is at Faure, on the way in from Cape Town.
