A short history

Gerrit Visscher was on this land in the 1680s. On 9 November 1690 Simon van der Stel signed the grant, and Visscher sold the farm the same day to the Huguenot Guillaume Niel.

Niel named it De Blaauwe Klippen, the blue stones, for the granite that shows blue when it breaks. Children still come for the coach. The cellar is the grown-up half of the stop.
