Paarl

Laborie

Watercolour of the Paarl valley.
Illustration of the Paarl valley. Not a photograph of this estate.

In Paarl itself, which makes it the stop when you want the town and not another valley. Picnic lawns when the weather is kind.

Lunch

A short history

In 1691 the farm was granted to the Huguenot Isaac Taillefert, who put it in his son Jean's name. They cleared the ground and planted vines. A French visitor in 1698 already thought their wine was among the best at the Cape.

Laborie sits in Paarl itself, which makes it the stop when you want the town. The picnic lawns work when the weather is kind.

Opening times

The tasting room publishes its own hours, and they change. Check before you drive.
