How the day goes
Bot River is about an hour from Cape Town on the N2, just past Elgin. Beaumont is a family farm with an old water mill. Gabriëlskloof is close to the main road and has a restaurant, so it works as the lunch stop.
Before you go
The village itself is small and quiet. Pair it with Elgin on the way in or Hermanus on the way out, not both, if you want lunch to feel unhurried. Whale season, roughly June to November, makes Hermanus the obvious add-on.
